Music
CDs, music cassettes, and vinyl records purchased from Amazon.com (including those purchased from CDNOW teamed with Amazon.com, but excluding items purchased from the CDNOW Preferred Buyer’s Club) are easily returned to Amazon.com within 30 days of receipt of shipment via our Online Returns Center. These items must be unopened and still in their plastic wrap. Items purchased at CDNOW teamed with Amazon.com can be returned only to Amazon.com.

Amazon.com cannot accept returns of items purchased from Amazon Merchants, including items purchased from the CDNOW Preferred Buyer’s Club. Items that are picked up at a store or shipped directly by the merchant must be returned to the merchant according to their return guidelines. Read more about ordering from Amazon merchants.


Movies
DVDs and Videos purchased from Amazon.com (including DVDs purchased CDNOW teamed with Amazon.com) are easily returned to Amazon.com within 30 days of receipt of shipment via our Online Returns Center. These items must be unopened and still in their plastic wrap. Items purchased at CDNOW teamed with Amazon.com can be returned only to Amazon.com and not to CDNOW.


Video Games
Computer and video games purchased from Amazon.com are easily returned to Amazon.com within 30 days of receipt of shipment via our Online Returns Center. These items must be unopened and still in their plastic wrap.


Software
Software titles purchased from Amazon.com are easily returned to Amazon.com within 30 days of receipt of shipment via our Online Returns Center. These items must be unopened and still in their plastic wrap.

Computers
Computers that were purchased from Amazon.com may be returned for a refund within 30 days of receipt of shipment. To return a computer, visit our Online Returns Center.

Computers may not be returned more than 30 days from the date of shipment receipt.

All computers sold by Amazon.com are supported by the computer’s manufacturers. In the unlikely event a computer appears to be defective, please contact the customer support network for the computer manufacturer to have it serviced under warranty.


Electronics
Electronics purchased from Amazon.com, including items from the Target at Amazon.com store, are easily returned to Amazon.com within 30 days of receipt of shipment via our Online Returns Center. These items must be in new condition with original packaging and accessories. We cannot accept returns of products missing the serial number or UPC; we will not issue refunds for such items.

We’re happy to accept returns for large items that are shipped via our specialty shippers. These items do require a special type of return and cannot be returned with a pre-paid return mailing label like standard shipments. If you need to return an item shipped via a specialty shipper, you visit our Online Returns Center and request the return. We’ll follow up with instructions for returning the item. Televisions
TVs shipped and sold by Amazon.com will have FREE Return Shipping (via our Online Returns Center) up to 30 days from the date you receive the TV. The TV must be in new condition with the original packaging and accessories. We cannot accept returns of products missing the serial number or UPC; we will not issue refunds for such items.

We’re happy to accept returns for large TVs that are shipped via our specialty shippers. These items do require a special type of return and cannot be returned with a pre-paid return mailing label like standard shipments. If you need to return a TV shipped via a specialty shipper, visit our Online Returns Center and request the return. We’ll follow up with instructions for returning the TV.

Your TV is not eligible for a return and refund after the 30-day return period has expired.


Amazon Basics
We accept returns of AmazonBasic items for up to 30 days of receipt. However, if you have trouble with your AmazonBasics product after the return timeline has passed, please contact us. We’ll be happy to help you in any way we can, such as replacing the item under the AmazonBasics warranty. Additionally, if you have an AmazonBasics product that is eligible under your AmazonBasics warranty, you can always choose to exercise your rights under that warranty.

Kindle Return Policies

Returning Kindle
You can return any Kindle you purchased directly from Amazon.com for a full refund within 30 days of the day you received it as long as it is in new condition and in accordance with our return policy. Your Kindle is not eligible for return and refund after the 30-day return period has expired.

Note: If want to return your Kindle for a refund and you purchased your Kindle from a third-party retail store, you must return your Kindle to the retailer where you made the purchase according to the retailer’s return policies.

To return your Kindle within 30 days of receipt if purchased from Amazon.com:

Prepare Kindle for shipping: Please place your Kindle in the original packaging. You may still return the Kindle if the box has been opened. It is not necessary to include the manual or accessories.

Print a mailing label: Visit the online Returns Center on Amazon.com or contact Kindle Support for assistance with your return. Your Kindle must be returned to Amazon.com using a trackable shipping method. If you pay for return shipping, please see About Your Refund below.
Give return package to the shipper: Please wrap the package securely, attach the return label you printed to the package, and take your return package to a drop-off location for the shipper indicated on the label.


About Your Refund
When we have received and processed your return, our returns department will request the appropriate refund to the payment method used for the original order. View completed refunds by visiting the Order Summary in Your Account http://www.amazon.com/your-account.

Note about pre-paid mailing labels and shipping cost refunds: Return shipping costs are only reimbursed if the return is due to Amazon error. If a pre-paid label is not convenient in your location, indicate the cost of shipping you paid with your return (either on the packing slip inside of the box or written on the return label outside of the box). You may be reimbursed for your shipping costs according to our Returns and Refunds policy.

Note about returning the Kindle from outside the U.S.: Kindle batteries are considered “Small Lithium Batteries in Equipment” under international regulations and when shipped individually do not require any special labeling or documentation.

Returning Kindle Content
Any content you purchase for Kindle from the Kindle Store is eligible for return and refund if we receive your request within 7 days of the date of purchase. Once a refund is issued, you will no longer have access to the item.

Returning Kindle Gift Content
Any content you receive as a gift from the Amazon Kindle Store is eligible for exchange for an Amazon.com Gift Card before acceptance.  Please make sure to include the gift order number of the item you wish to return in your request.
Warranty Service
Whether you bought your Kindle through Amazon or in a retail store, your Kindle is covered by a One-Year Limited Warranty. If you need service under the warranty or would prefer some personal assistance, please contact us so we can help determine how best to help you. We’ll gladly provide service or a replacement according to the warranty guidelines.

Digital Content Returns
In general, digital content purchased and/or downloaded from Amazon.com is not returnable.

Baby
Eligible baby items fulfilled by Amazon are easily returned to Amazon.com within 365 days of delivery via our Online Returns Center. Returns should be in new and unopened condition. You won’t be charged return shipping costs for your return.

Note: Clothing in sizes 0-24 months falls under our 365 day return policy. See our Clothing Returns page for items sized larger than 24 months.
Toys & Games

Items purchased from the Amazon.com Toys & Games store are easily returned in new condition to Amazon.com within 30 days of receipt of shipment via our Online Returns Center.

Shoes, Clothing & Accessory Returns

If for any reason you’re not completely satisfied with your purchase, you may return it within 30 days of the original purchase date for a full refund less any shipping costs.

Our Online Returns Center guides you through the process and gives you a printable return mailing label and bar code. You can choose to send your items by U.S. Postal Service or trackable UPS shipping. The shoes should be returned with all the original packaging and the bar code provided to receive your refund. We will deduct any associated fees and shipping costs from your refund. If you return your shoes beyond the 30 day return window, we will assess a 20% late fee, which will also be deducted from your refund.

Merchandise must be unworn, in the original packaging, and the bar code provided during the returns process must be included in the package. We’ll also accept the return of incorrect or defective merchandise that meets the guidelines listed below.

Unworn Merchandise
: Includes any item that is in new condition, still contains the original tags, and is in the original packaging (if any). Returns will be returned to you if the shoes exhibit any obvious signs of wear or are not in the condition in which they were received. All original packaging and materials including boxes, manuals, warranty cards, instructional DVDs, and any other materials in the original shipment must be returned with your merchandise.

Defective Merchandise
: Returns for Manufacturer defects will be accepted. All original packaging and materials including boxes, manuals, warranty cards, instructional DVDs, and any other materials in the original shipment must be returned with your merchandise.

Incorrect Merchandise:Contact us via e-mail or phone if you received an item different than what was described on the website or is the wrong size, color, or style than what you ordered.

Clothing & Accessories
Some items in our Clothing & Accessories Stores are sold by Amazon.com, and others are sold by Amazon Merchants.

Any unwashed, unworn clothing item shipped by Amazon.com may be returned. To make your clothing return, just visit our Online Returns Center and follow the guidelines. Amazon will process your return and issue a full refund with no deduction for shipping after receiving your return of the new qualifying Clothing & Accessories.

The sizing guidelines on our size charts are approximate. Actual sizes may vary between manufacturers.

Returning Underwear and Swimwear
Amazon.com will gladly accept returns of unworn underwear and swimwear that it is in its original condition with all tags and packaging intact.

Watches, Jewelry & Accessory Returns

* Watches that have been resized, damaged, or otherwise altered after delivery will not be accepted for return. All watches must be returned in new, unworn condition, and will undergo quality checks.
* All product packaging materials–including boxes, manuals, warranty cards, instructional DVDs, and any other materials in the original shipment–must be returned with your merchandise.

Jewelry & Accessories
Some items in our Jewelry Store are offered for sale by Amazon.com itself, and others are sold by Amazon merchants.
Returning Amazon.com Purchases

If you need to return a jewelry order you placed directly with Amazon.com (from our Amazon.com Collection), just visit our Online Returns Center and return the jewelry within 30 days of delivery. Keep the following guidelines in mind:

* Jewelry items with a value of $75 or more must be returned using a trackable shipping method.
* Items valued more than $500 must also be insured.
* Fine Jewelry that has been resized, damaged, or otherwise altered after delivery will not be accepted for return. All Fine Jewelry must be returned in new, unworn condition, and will undergo quality checks.
* All certificates of authenticity, grading, and appraisal must be returned with your merchandise.
* A 15% restocking fee will be applied to any items missing their original documentation.

Health & Personal Care and Beauty Returns

Health & Personal Care
Most health and personal care items purchased from Amazon.com, including items from the Target at Amazon.com store, are easily returned to Amazon.com within 30 days of receipt of shipment via our Online Returns Center. These items must be unopened and in new condition. We cannot accept returns of products that have special shipping restrictions imposed by the U.S. Department of Transportation; the detail page for these products will indicate if these restrictions apply.

Make-up may be returned after it has been opened if the color of the product does not meet your expectations.

Some Health & Personal Care products are not returnable, including:

* Cholesterol monitors
* Diabetic/glucose monitors
* Fragrances
* Sex & Sensuality items
* Thermometry

If the item you ordered isn’t returnable, you’ll see a message about that in our Online Returns Center. If you have a problem with a product and it isn’t returnable, please contact Customer Service.

Beauty
Beauty items purchased from Amazon.com are easily returned to Amazon.com within 30 days of receipt of shipment via our Online Returns Center. These items must be unopened and in new condition.

We cannot accept returns of products that have special shipping restrictions imposed by the U.S. Department of Transportation; the detail page for these products will indicate if these restrictions apply. If you have a problem with a product and it isn’t returnable, please contact Customer Service.

Grocery Returns

We cannot accept returns of grocery items purchased from Amazon.com, including food, personal care items such as shampoo and skin care, and household items.

Returning Wheels Sold by Amazon.com

Wheels you purchase from Amazon.com can only be returned if:

* The return is packaged and shipped in the original packaging.
* The wheels are still in new condition.
* You visit our Online Returns Center and ship your return within 30 days of receipt of the original shipment.

Any returns that do not meet the above qualifications may receive a reduced refund or be returned to the purchaser.

Tools & Hardware

Most tools and hardware purchased from Amazon.com are easily returned to Amazon.com within 30 days of receipt of shipment via our Online Returns Center. These items must be in new condition.

For safety reasons, items that use flammable liquids or gases cannot be returned to Amazon.com. These items will say “This item cannot be returned” on the product detail page. Please contact the manufacturer directly for service, warranty, return, and refund information. For assistance in contacting the manufacturer, please contact Customer Service.

Cell Phone Returns

You may return a cell phone within the first 30 days after delivery by visiting our Online Returns Center.

When we receive your return, we’ll issue the appropriate refund and send you an e-mail confirming the refund amount. For U.S. customers, we will deduct the cost of return shipping from your refund if you use our postage-paid return label, unless the return is a result of our error. It typically takes up to two weeks to process cell phone returns after they arrive at our returns center. If you haven’t received your refund after this period, please contact us so that we can further research the issue.

Note: Returning a cell phone does not automatically cancel the service contract with your carrier. If you are returning a phone for a refund, you will need to contact the carrier directly to cancel your service plan.

Your cellular carrier will still charge you a prorated fee for the time you had the phone and service, including any additional roaming or long-distance fees and for any extra minutes you used. Also, activation fees are generally nonrefundable. For specific answers regarding service-plan cancellations, please contact your carrier directly. Carrier contact information is provided on the packing slip/invoice that is shipped with your cell phone/plan order.

“Pay As You Go” (Prepaid) Phone Cards
Pay As You Go (or prepaid) phone cards are not returnable, as we have no way to check their value. If the card is defective, we recommend that you contact a local authorized dealer, or the carrier directly.

Kitchen & Houseware Returns

Most kitchen items and housewares purchased from Amazon.com, including items from the Target at Amazon.com store, can be easily returned to Amazon.com within 30 days of delivery via our Online Returns Center. These items must be in new condition with original packaging and accessories.

Magazine Returns

 

Canceling Magazine Subscriptions
It’s very important to us that you’re happy with your magazine subscription purchase. If for any reason you are not satisfied, please contact the appropriate subscription service provider. In most cases, the magazine subscription can be refunded for any remaining issues. The service provider can also update your address or help with any other concerns you may have.

You can find the magazine service provider by checking the order details in Your Account.

Canceling an Online Subscription
When you order a subscription to an online newspaper or periodical, you’ll receive a physical packet in the mail with login instructions. If you decide you don’t want the subscription before you’ve opened the packet and accessed the website, you are welcome to return the unopened packet for a full refund. Just visit Amazon’s Online Returns Center.

If you’ve already opened the packet and accessed the online periodical, then the subscription cannot be canceled. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Musical Instruments

Most musical instruments sold and fulfilled by Amazon.com can be returned in new, unopened condition within 30 days of delivery for a full refund.

If you need to return a musical instrument you ordered that was sold and fulfilled directly by Amazon.com, just visit our Online Returns Center and follow the guidelines for the particular type of merchandise. These items must be in new condition with original packaging and accessories. We cannot accept returns of products missing the serial number or UPC; we will not issue refunds for such items.

Office Product Returns

Office products purchased from Amazon.com are easily returned to Amazon.com within 30 days of receipt of shipment via our Online Returns Center. These items must be in new condition with original packaging and accessories.

Many office products purchased online from Office Depot may be returned within 30 days of purchase. Items shipped by Office Depot may not be returned to physical Office Depot stores. See Office Depot’s Returns and Exchanges policy for more information.

Amazon.com cannot accept returns of items purchased for in-store pickup from physical Office Depot stores. You can return or exchange these items at any Office Depot location nationwide.

Travel Returns

Issues regarding airline tickets, hotel reservations, car rentals, and other travel services purchased from Hotwire or The Vacation Store can be addressed only by contacting their customer service departments.

Convenient, Easy

I returned a pair of pants to Amazon, and the whole process was easy. They had shipped the wrong size, but I went online and checked my order information and the whole process was laid out very clearly. I was able to get the issue corrected, all very quickly and easily.



I don’t have a printer at home, so that was the only hiccup, but that’s really more my fault than theirs. Fortunately, it was sold directly by Amazon though. I’m never sure about some of these other companies that sell on Amazon and how responsive their customer service is. That’s why I always shop Prime!
