We guarantee our merchandise to be free of manufacturing defects and will accept any defective item for refund or exchange.

All in-store returns/exchanges in accordance with this policy for purchases paid for by cash or check require a government-issued photo ID.

retail store purchases

J.Crew gladly accepts returns of unworn, unwashed, undamaged or defective merchandise purchased in our retail stores for full refund or exchange within 30 days of original purchase. Requests for refund or exchange of merchandise purchased by cash or check must be accompanied by the original receipt. Refunds will be made in the form of the original payment. Requests to exchange merchandise received as a gift must be accompanied by a gift receipt.

telephone and internet purchases

J.Crew gladly accepts returns of unworn, unwashed, undamaged or defective merchandise purchased by phone or online for full refund or exchange within 60 days of original purchase. Requests for refund or exchange of merchandise purchased by check must be accompanied by the original receipt. Refunds will be made in the form of the original payment. factory purchases

J.Crew Factory merchandise purchased in a J.Crew Factory store may be returned to any J.Crew Factory store location within 30 days of original purchase for refund or exchange. Requests for refund or exchange of merchandise purchased by cash or check must be accompanied by the original receipt. Refunds will be made in the form of the original payment. Requests to exchange merchandise received as a gift must be accompanied by a gift receipt.

J.Crew Factory merchandise purchase by phone or online may be returned to a J.Crew Factory store or by mail within 60 days of original purchase for refund or exchange. Requests for refund or exchange of merchandise purchased by check must be accompanied by the original receipt. Refunds will be made in the form of the original payment. Requests to exchange merchandise received as a gift must be accompanied by a gift receipt.

monogrammed, personalized and final sale items

All monogrammed, personalized and final sale items may not be returned or exchanged. Please note that all lingerie and vintage items and all items that have been altered, are final sale.

price adjustment

J.Crew gladly honors a one-time price adjustment on full-price merchandise within seven days of the retail purchase or mail order ship date if accompanied by the original receipt. Items not purchased at full price are ineligible for price adjustments.

purchases paid by check

Refunds in accordance with this policy for purchases made by check over the phone or online will be electronically deposited into the account from which the funds were originally withdrawn. A check in the amount of the refund will be issued and mailed to you for refunds of purchases made by check in our retail stores.

return or exchange an item to our retail stores

For your convenience, J. Crew phone, Internet and retail store purchases may be returned to any J.Crew retail store for refund or exchange in accordance with this policy. J.Crew Factory stores can only accept returns of J.Crew Factory items that were purchased online or at a J.Crew Factory location. Unfortunately, J.Crew phone and Internet purchases cannot be returned to J.Crew retail store locations in Canada. J.Crew phone and Internet purchases shipped internationally (outside of Canada and Japan) may not be returned to any retail location. Monogrammed, personalized or final sale items cannot be returned or exchanged.

return or exchange an item by mail (US and Canada orders only)

J.Crew uses SmartLabel by Newgistics and Authorized Return Services (ARS) by UPS to make your return process easy:

  • These services are available in the contiguous United States only.
  • Your package will include both a prepaid, preaddressed return label (SmartLabel) and a prepaid, preaddressed insert (ARS).
  • Shipping charges are prepaid and no postage is required; the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund (one item $5.95, two or more items $7.50, for either service).
  • Drop your package into the mail.

You can also send the item back to us at the address below using any other trackable method, at your expense. Once we receive your package, we will promptly process an exchange or issue a refund in accordance with this policy. Please be certain to insure the package.

If you do not have the packing slip, please include the following information with your return:

  • Your name and billing address.
  • The name, address and ZIP code of the person who placed the order, if it was a gift.
  • The original purchase price and approximate date of the purchase.
  • The item number of the merchandise, if available.

return an item from an internationally shipped order (outside of Canada and Japan)

J.Crew gladly accepts returns of unworn, unwashed, undamaged or defective merchandise purchased by phone or online for full refund within 60 days of original purchase. If for any reason you are not satisfied with your international online purchase, email julie@jcrew.com or call 434 385 5775 to initiate a Return Merchandise Authorization, which is required to process a return.

Julie and her team will provide you with instructions on where returns should be shipped. If you choose to return an item, our partner FiftyOne will provide you with a refund of the original merchandise price and any duties and taxes originally paid on the item in the same currency and using the same exchange rate as your original order. Please note that you will still be responsible for any shipping charges.
